Rossman Lake - 2008
My wife and I have just purchased a 20 acre plot of land at Rossman Lake. The land is rolling hills, heavily treed, and with a couple of lakes, one of which is home for beavers. We are thrilled! Our long term plan is to build a house, and then on our retirement we intend to spend time in both the UK and Canada…..for us we will be living the dream.
And oh how easy Carl and Jim made things for us! Wonderfully helpful, completely professional and honest, and so friendly at all times – and with incredible patience as they dealt with question after question after question. Carl dealt with things UK side, whilst Jim was my host for the 5 days that I was in Canada looking at the plot. Jim couldn’t have been more helpful! He arranged my accommodation, and then acted as driver and ‘tour guide’ – he drove miles, ensuring that I became as familiar with the area as possible. I had a super few days, and met a number of very friendly people. When I saw the plot of land for the first time, it was everything the website had promised; no hard sale there. I was delighted, and spent a good deal of time walking on the plot, and relishing the peacefulness of it all. Wildlife in abundance, and I got to see a black bear and her cubs! Jim has an extensive knowledge of the outdoors and answered my questions with ease. I was sorry to head back to the UK, and It would be fair to say that in Jim I have made a new friend…..….and one that can drink gallons of coffee!!!
Both my wife and I will be going out to our new property in the October of this year, and we will be meeting up with Jim and his wife Elaine. We are now looking forward to happy days ahead.

We have been to Manitoba twice, firstly to view land for sale and make a decision and the second visit to start organising immigration as well as the building of a property. Throughout the first visit Jim was on hand to help with accommodation, directions (in the form of picture clues for my 3 boys to decipher!), take us all on a ramble around our chosen plot and organise a visit to the local school. He found out so much information, put us in contact with builders and made the trip very worthwhile and fun. The second visit was just my husband and I and although a lot of the organisation this time was our own, we always knew Jim would help out, and was nearby. We also enjoyed a fantastic meal together with his family for my husband's birthday! Swystun Lake - 2007
"We had been thinking of Canada for many years and like most we were looking at Alberta or BC, because that was where we had been on holiday. We picked up a copy of 'A Place in the Sun' in February 2007 and were actually looking at France when we came a across your advert. We phoned Carl, and he was most helpful, putting us in touch with Jim. Both Jim and Carl advised me to wait until May to go out and have a look, but as I had to return to work Marianne insisted I went out at the end of March. I figured if i liked Mud season, I would like it at any time. Despite a much delayed flight, (thanks NWA) I missed the first night, but all was made up when I met Jim. He really is an excellent host, and nothing is too much. Despite me being a very cautious person, who does not decide on things quickly, Jim and Elaine were very patient, and ferried me everywhere I needed to go, even loaning me the car to go back and look at the plots again.
Everyone I met in Manitoba, was as friendly as the license plate suggested. Jim put me in contact with potential employers, and arranged a day at the local college for me. This was above and beyond, and really helped pave the way. I fell in love with the Rossburn area, and after much deliberation went for a plot at Swystun on the Lease plan. It really was so easy. I returned with Marianne in October, and we confirmed that this was the place for us. We are so glad we saw the advert, and would recommend any one with an interest to take a look. It's a beautiful place even in mud season! Even though unwell Jim and Elaine made the effort to visit us whilst we were there in October, and has been a source of help and support all the way through. Following family experiences in Spain, I was sceptical about these site visits, but I can honestly say this is one you don't need to worry about. Come out and see for yourself."

"The first time I made a trip to Canada with some friends of mine, I fell in love with the country. I said to my friend, 'When we go back let us sell our houses and immigrate to Canada'. As soon as I got home I went straight to the computer and my first click was to the Northland Properties website. I requested further information and everything started from there. "While scanning the internet looking for property in Canada we came across the Northland Properties web site. This very informative site soon raised our interest to the next level and we booked flights (with Zoom Airline) to visit Manitoba, taking advantage of the no-obligation tour. Jim was the perfect tour guide and during the three days we visited much of Manitoba between Winnipeg, Gimli, Rossman and Brandon. Jim is very knowledgeable, answered all our questions and took us to see everything we wanted to see and showed us much more besides. He is honest, helpful, trustworthy and has a wicked sense of humour! - Great to do business with. There was no pressure to buy at all, but by the time we visited the large plots we were sure that the area was exactly where we would want to live and when we saw our plot it felt like we were coming home. We shook hands on the deal there and then. Jim & Carl have continued to help and advise with the land registration, immigration and liaising with builders. Dawson Law has arranged all the legalities without any of the fuss that happens in the UK, and we are looking forward to relocating as soon as immigration allows. “For my family and I to make a decision about something fairly momentous in such a short space of time means one of two things. Either we were so turned off by the whole idea that it was easy to say 'no' or we were so comfortable with the whole idea that it was easy to say 'yes'. Thankfully in our case it was the latter. From first logging onto the Northland website to agreeing to purchase significant amounts of land in Manitoba took less than a month. This included a weeks trip to Canada! "After seeing the house at Gilbert Plains on the Website I must admit we were definitely interested but a little apprehensive about the price and how we would be accommodated during our visit to Manitoba. After an overnight stay in Winnipeg we were picked up by Jim (what a nice guy, no suit!). He was our tour guide for the next 3 days and we had a lovely time. Jim picked up the tab for all our accommodation and food to a point were we almost guilty of being mean. Friendly Manitoba really is friendly, the open space is wonderful. It felt good to out of the Rat Race. We fell in love the place and ended up buying the house and the bungalow next door all with 4.5 acres of land for less than cost of a 2 up 2 down in the UK.
